This soft chalina was made in Choyó, Santiago el Pinar, and it took 43 hours of artisan work to complete it. The chalina was made using an ancestral technique called backstrap loom. Each piece is unique and unrepeatable, due to its artisanal work it can present slight variations in the patterns.
This dramatic piece weaves a basic color palette of ivory, yellow, and red to create everlasting timeless rich hues in mustard yellow, burgundy wine, and sienna. It is the perfect accessory for everyday wear as well as elegant soirees.
Santiago el Pinar, el Choyo, is one of the four craftswomen cooperatives and co-owners of Juxta Nation. This spectacular group of 15 female artisans have mastered the backstrap loom weaving technique in Chiapas, México.
