This large medallion necklace was made by Chuck Stoney (Turtle Mountain Chippewa) and features natural birch bark harvested from the Turtle Mountains of North Dakota.
This stunning medallion features an intricate design that was etched and scraped to reveal the different layers of the bark. The large pendant measures over 4" wide and is edged with seed beads in various hues. It hangs on an 24" adjustable necklace chain that features glass beads and dentalium shell. The floral design is etched with great detail onto the bark with strong tribal designs. Waabigwan means flower in Anishinaabemowin, the Chippewa language.
