These post earrings were made by Michael Adams (Hopi/Tewa) and are engraved on natural alder wood and painted with a bronze metallic finish.
They measure .6" in diameter and are lightweight. This design was created with the simple beauty of seeing a morning sunflower. The sunflower represents an abundance of positivity as the brightness of color radiates goodness. This piece was created with the same energy of abundance, so that you may also share that energy as you wear the piece. This item ships from the US.
Born on the Hopi reservation and surrounded by culture and art, Adams was inspired to create his own style with jewelry. He looks to his parents for inspiration; his mother is a Hopi/Tewa potter and his father is a Katsina doll carver. Each earring is created using gourd or basswood. He hand-cuts, shapes, and then paints each earring using acrylics. A final coating of protective gloss seals the design and gives the earring a shine. He explained, "I love to incorporate color and Hopi symbolism into my designs all referencing nature as it occurs naturally."
