Prayer Offering Studs
These post earrings were made by Michael Adams (Hopi/Tewa) and are engraved on natural alder wood and painted with a silver metallic finish.
They measure .5" in diameter and are lightweight. The design detail depicts 3 turkey feathers that serve a prayer symbols on top of a lightening swirl. The prayer offering is for moisture to bless the people and their crops. These truly unique studs will keep others guessing where you got them. They are 100% Native/Hopi made and symbolize prayers for moisture/rain. They come with a custom made earring holder and gift box. This item ships from the US.
Born on the Hopi reservation and surrounded by culture and art, Adams was inspired to create his own style with jewelry. He looks to his parents for inspiration; his mother is a Hopi/Tewa potter and his father is a Katsina doll carver. Each earring is created using gourd or basswood. He hand-cuts, shapes, and then paints each earring using acrylics. A final coating of protective gloss seals the design and gives the earring a shine. He explained, "I love to incorporate color and Hopi symbolism into my designs all referencing nature as it occurs naturally."
